FAQ

Common questions

Which calculator tells me how many lots of gold to trade?

The position size calculator answers that. You enter your account balance, the percentage you are willing to risk, your stop distance in pips and the instrument details, and it returns a lot size. Because 1 standard lot is 100 oz on XAU/USD, the output is sensitive to your stop, so keep the stop realistic.

How do I use the pip value calculator for XAU/USD?

The pip value calculator converts a 0.01 price move into money for your chosen lot size. On gold, one pip is 0.01, so a 0.10-lot position moves a small fixed amount per pip while a full lot moves 100 times that. Use it to check what a 30 or 50 pip stop actually costs.

What does the margin calculator show that my platform does not?

The margin calculator shows the cash your broker locks up for a given lot size and leverage, separate from your risk. At 1:200 via an offshore entity, 0.10 lots needs about $85.50. Seeing margin apart from stop-loss risk stops you confusing available leverage with how much you can safely lose.

Can the profit calculator convert gains into naira?

The profit calculator works out the dollar result of a trade from entry, exit and lot size. Converting to naira then depends on the USD/NGN rate your bank or broker applies, which moves. Treat the naira figure as an estimate and check the rate on the day you withdraw, not the day you open.

Why would I use pivot points on a gold chart?

Pivot points give you pre-set reference levels for the session based on the prior high, low and close, so you are not drawing lines mid-trade. On XAU/USD they help mark where price has reacted before. They are a planning aid, not a signal, and they fail in strong trends, so pair them with your own risk limit.
